350Z Clubsport
Inspired by the 350z GTS concept car that we will never be able to buy, as well as trackday specials such as the 996 Porsche 911 GT3 and M3 GTS, I do my best to slowly build my own 350z into an “OEM Plus” street and trackday (clubsport) car. The overall vision is for it to be enjoyable to drive on less-than-perfect public roads, rain or shine, as well as be able to hold its own at a weekend trackday or time trial event.
However, more than just building a machine for converting money into noise, the goal of this project is to provide a medium for exploring engineering and problem solving challenges more deeply, with the hopes that I will continue to learn new things and develop new skills as well as take advantage of pre-existing professional experience I have from the automotive industry.
Why did I buy a 2003 Nissan 350Z?
Ironically the primary motivations for me buying a 20+ year old Japanese sports car don’t have that much to do with the car itself. I found myself chatting with my wife one day about my streak of meloncholy mornings and realized that I needed a social outlet as well as a creative outlet.

Clubsport with the Z
I want to be at least somewhat data driven on this project, which means if I’m building a clubsport car I need to do clubsport things. Over the span of the year I’ve done small things here and there to resolve some quirks of the car while attending club events, but now I need to go participate in some trackday events to get an idea of how I can start shaping the car to live up to my vision in that aspect as well.
